Airline Service
You can fly into Portland International Airport(PDX) from anywhere. You can then rent a car or there is new public air service from Portland to Newport on Seaport Airlines. It is a short flight and rental cars or a taxi can be had from the small airport. This is a great option if you would like to avoid the 2.5 hour drive from Portland.
By Car
There are a number of driving routes to Newport both all very scenic. The Pacific Coast Highway, Highway 101, runs along the Oregon Coast and through Newport. The closest major north-south highway is I-5 - heading west on Highway 20 (exit 233) provides the most direct access to Newport from I-5. You can also take the very scenic Highway 6 from the West Side of Portland. This route takes you along the Wilson River know throughout the world for excellent Steelhead fishing and into Tillamook which will allow you to take 101-S for the short drive to Newport.
