It’s a wide expansive beach and provide great opportunity for shell or agate hunting. Perhaps Cobble Beach in Newport is more your style. It is famous for sea stars, shore crabs, hermit crabs and rocky cliffs. It is located in the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area which also boasts a historic lighthouse. Climb to the top of the lighthouse on your visit for a unique view of Oregon’s past. One of the oldest tourist beaches on Oregon coast is Nye Beach located also just north of town. Nye Beach is quaint and quiet compared to its heyday, but is experiencing quite a renaissance. It has a growing number of gourmet restaurants, bakeries, and art galleries.
